ARRIVE EARLY - It’s a good idea to arrive a few minutes early to fill out paperwork. If you’re late we won’t have as much time as we might need for your session.

BRING SOMEONE WITH YOU - Over the years we have noticed most seniors are more at ease when someone else is along. If you would like to bring your mom and a friend that is ok also. Bringing several people is usually not a good idea however. We have noticed that this seems to be distracting for most seniors and seems to take away from the session.

HAIR - Avoid style change or haircuts just before you session. If you need a haircut try to get it done about a week before your session. Bring along your hair care products if you like.

SLEEP - As silly as this sounds it is a good idea to get a good nights sleep before your session. You don’t want to look like you’ve been out all night.

AVOID SUNBURNS!!! - It is best not to get to much sun for a few days before your session. Tans are OK but don’t go overboard.

BE ORGANIZED - Like any other important event it’s a good idea to be prepared. Its not a good idea to show up with your clothes stuffed in a plastic bag, although it happens! The best way is to pick out your outfits and have each of them on hangers so we can look through them when you arrive and decide which one to use first.

CLOTHING - It is a good idea to vary your styles and colors. Some lighter colors are ok but darker colors usually photograph best. It’s a good idea to bring at least one dressier outfit. Many of our poses are full length so plan your outfits from head to toe and don’t forget to bring different shoes. Even if it is 90 degrees outside don’t forget to bring some long sleeves. Short sleeves or sleeveless outfits don’t always look best for close-ups.

PETS - If you would like to have a photograph with your pet that is no problem, just let us know so we can allow time. You may wish to have someone else bring your pet and then take them home after their part of the session.

GLASSES - Most glasses glare. Your best bet is to check with your optometrist. Most will loan you an empty set of frames similar to yours for your session. This is a little extra work on your part but it is worth the extra effort. We can do a much better job of lighting your portraits if we don’t have to make compromises to eliminate glare and facial distortion. In some cases we can remove the lenses.

GIRLS - Be careful of baggy clothes that might make you look larger than you are. Clothing that is too tight may not be flattering either. If you are concerned that your arms look large be careful of too many sleeveless tops, they can make your arms look fuller. Nails show! If your nails are chipped it will show. Some of your casual shots will be barefoot if you like it that way, so don’t forget about your toes. If you don’t normally wear makeup but would like to have some on for your portraits many department stores will show you how to apply their products. Just don’t go overboard.

GUYS - Make sure to shave before your session, Stubble can not be retouched. Don’t forget to make sure your shoes go with the outfits you have selected. If you have not mastered the art of tying a tie don’t worry, we can do that for you. If you don’t want to go the jacket and tie route don’t worry a lot of guys just bring a nice dress shirt or a sweater and that looks great also.
